Remember GI Joe's?

I was out with that certain, special, wonderful someone this eve/morn and we were talking. And somehow, someway (gee I wonder), the insanity brought us to the topic of "back in the day". I told her of my intricate and wonderful (albeit unknown) works that I produced in my childhood bedroom (grounded for grades....thanks Ma!) utilizing my GI Joe action figurines as the actors.

Augh! I realized the simple beauty of those times tonight as she and I spoke. I mean, seriously, those were the times! Along with my other groups of figurines, there was some crazy politcal mumbo jumbo back then for me in my world.

The He-Man group hated the Centurions (only because they were taller), the Centurions were after the Go-bots because they wanted their land (at the time, next to the footboard of my bed, which included access to the 'turntable of doom' a.k.a my record player), the Go-bots had beef with Cobra because originally (again, this was MY world all you staunch purists) Destro was a Go-bot before figuring out how to permanantly stay in 'human-like' transformed mode, and of course all groups were ruled over by the sparce GI Joe squad trying to keep peace. I say sparce because I only made $2.50 a week in allowance, which bought 'a' (as in one) GI Joe at the time.

So anyways, as we talked, I revelled in the fact that back then my imagination had no bounds and no limitations. I mean, how many kids do you know that can limit their bedroom space with a spool of sewing thread and some scotch tape? It was a really cool figurine 'hand slide' transportation system by my design that rocked! I mean, besides the fact it practically left me limbo-ing to and from the door, that is. Now other than the gigantor mess, can you imagine not having to pay the 40 bucks a gallon these days to drive to work? You just reach up, grab a line and ZING! You're at work just like that!

Hmmm.... imagination with no bounds and no limitations. Maybe its time to go 'retro' and get back to those days. I seem to remember a whole lot less stress then. Leaves one to wonder...
